BRYANT HANOVER, PA – Billy C. Bryant, 68, died on Monday, April 8. Born in the Relief community of Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Fred D. and Frances Proffitt Bryant. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Blanton. A member of First United Methodist Church in Hanover, he was a member and past president of the Hanover Republican Club, past president of the Hanover Kiwanis Club, charter board member of Hanover Kiwanis Foundation, and member of the Hanover Arcadian Club. He was a Free and Accepted Mason and a member of the Patmos Blue Lodge #348. He attended ETSU and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War He was a funeral assistant at Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc. in Hanover. He is survived by his wife, Elaine McCourry Bryant of the home; two sisters, Gail Griffith of Green Mountain and Maxine Robinson of Gaffney, SC; one brother, James Bryant of Bridgewater, VA; a half-sister, Star Bennett of Bakersville; a half-brother, Kenneth Bryant of Johnson City, TN; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Hanover. Rev. Thomas K. Cartwright officiated. Burial was in Marburg Memorial Gardens, with the Hanover Allied Veterans Council providing full military honors. The family received friends from 2-9 p.m. Thursday at Kenworth Funeral Home.
