MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Lloyd Clayman Bryson, 27 Nov 2004 ----¤¤¤¤---- SPRUCE PINE - Lloyd Clayman Bryson, 91, of Peterson Street, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004 at his home. A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late June and Lydia Buchanan Bryson. He was also preceded in death by a son, Colin Bryson; brothers, Herbert and Clyde Bryson; and a sister, Irene. He taught at Bowman and Harris High Schools for 34 years and was also a seasonal park ranger with the National Park Service for 27 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine, where he served as secretary of Sunday School, deacon and on the building committee. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and past president of the Lions club. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Kimesa Pittman Bryson of the home; a son, Keith Bryson, MD of Bowling Green, KY; and a sister, Frances Hyatt of Sylva. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church. Dr. David Vess officiated. Burial followed in Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday at Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine.
