JORETTA HEFNER COX 

MARION - Joretta Hefner Cox, 75, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007 at her home. Born 
in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Deward and Blanche McCall 
Hefner. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, where she taught 
Sunday School for over 25 years.

Survivors include her husband, Bill W. Cox of the home; four sons, Gary Cox of 
Rome, Ga., James Cox of Nebo, and Dennis and Michael Cox, both of Marion; one 
daughter, Melanie Webb of Marion; one brother, Blake Hefner of Chesnee, S.C.; 
three sisters, Georgia Henline of Valdese, Gail Marshall of Kingsport, Tenn., 
and Muriel McKinney of Marion; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 
and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church. 
The Rev. Dennis Burleson officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. The 
family received friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour Sunday at the 
church. Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine assisted the family.
