NELLIE INEZ POORE CASSITY
SPRUCE PINE – Nellie Inez Poore Cassity, 88, died Tuesday, April 16, 
2002. She was the daughter of Frank and Lydia Poore. She was also 
preceded in death by her brothers, I.J. and Orval Poore, and a grandson, 
Richard Phillips. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. R.M. Cassity, of the home; one son, 
James E. Cassity of Albany, GA; daughters, Donna Phillips of Spruce Pine, 
Jean Potter of Spruce Pine, and Anne Bray of Tulsa, OK; 11 grandchildren; 
and 18 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church. 
Revs. David Vess, Max Holland and Steve Sisk officiated. Burial was in 
Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends from 2 p.m. 
until the service hour at the church. Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine 
was in charge of arrangements.
