MAUDE MILLER COMBS

BAKERSVILLE - Maude Miller Combs, 86, of Trout Pond Lane, died 
Monday, Jan. 6 at St. Lucie Medical Center. She was the daughter 
of the late Jess and Stella Francum Miller, and wife of the late 
Marvin Combs. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Betty 
O'Brien; and a brother, Ray Miller. She and her husband were in the 
home construction business in Miami, FL before retiring.
Survivors include three daughter, Joyce Schaffer of Tampa, FL, Judy 
Hengold of Port Lucie, FL, and Ruby Brown of Nashville, TN; four 
sisters, Hedy Perkins of Kannapolis, Arlene Russell of Sun City, AZ, 
Laura Haines of Bakersville, and Ruth Morris of Manasses, VA; one 
brother, J.B. Miller of Burnsville; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great 
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Henline-
Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville. Rev. Dallas Renfro officiated. 
Burial was in Buchanan Cemetery in Glen Ayre. The family received 
friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour Sunday at the funeral home.
