CLINA EVYONNE VANCE CARPENTER

SPRUCE PINE – Clina Evyonne Vance Carpenter, 69, of Beaver Creek Road, died 
Thursday, August 9, 2001 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Asheville. She was the 
daughter of the late Creed Thomas David Beauregard Vance and Martha Ellen
Cook Vance, and wife of the late Jack O. Carpenter. She was also preceded in 
death by 12 brothers and sisters: Pearl McGee, Violet Hicks, Maggie Sparks, 
Fleece Cordell, Ross Vance, Helen Cash, Beatrice Bowers, Bill Vance, Taylor 
Vance, John Vance, Fred Vance and Leslie Odom. She was a member of Berry 
Chapel Baptist Church and past Worthy Matron of the Spruce Pine Chapter #27 
Order of the Eastern Star. She was retired from Baxter Healthcare.
Survivors include one son, Rev. Alvin C. Carpenter of Rutherfordton; three 
daughters, Lenise Ramsey and Amanda Silver, both of Spruce Pine, and Jackie 
Walter of Concord; one sister, Frankie Zemanek of Minneapolis, NC; and eight 
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Berry Chapel Baptist Church. 
Rev. Greg Hollifield officiated. Burial followed in Spruce Pine Memorial 
Hospital. The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Webb Funeral 
Home in Spruce Pine.
