MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Willie Mae Edwards Carpenter, 25 Apr 2004

BAKERSVILLE - Willie Mae Edwards Carpenter, 73, of Snowdrift Drive, 
died Sunday, Apr. 25, 2004 at Yancey Nursing Center. A native of 
Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Dell and Nola Jane 
Holder Edwards, and wife of the late Howard Carpenter. She was a 
member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church and the DAV Auxiliary.

Survivors include her brothers, Tommie Lee Edwards of Bakersville, 
and Glenn Ray Edwards of Burnsville; and several nieces and nephews. 
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Henline-
Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville. Revs. Dallas Renfro and David 
Johnson officiated. Burial was at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Walnut Grove 
Cemetery. The family received friends from 7 p.m. until the service 
hour at the funeral home.
