HELEN AMELIA DAVENPORT 

SPRUCE PINE - Helen Amelia Davenport, 91, formerly of Summit Avenue, died 
Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Brian Center in Spruce Pine. She was the 
daughter of the late Robert M. and Maggie McKinney Davenport. She was also 
preceded in death by a sister, Grace Robinson; and brothers, Lee, Clay and 
Scott Davenport. She was a graduate of Harris High School and was retired from 
Robbins Knitting Mill of Spruce Pine. She was a member of Spruce Pine United 
Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.

Surivors include her nephews, Richard Davenport of Burnsville and Maurice 
Robinson of Spruce Pine; nieces, Janie Parsley of Burnsville and Betty 
McMurray of Spruce Pine; one aunt, Mae McKinney; and three sisters-in-law, 
Audrey, Annie and Madge Davenport. 

A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Friday in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel 
of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Richard Davenport officiated. Burial was 
in Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends following 
the memorial service at the funeral home.
