He was the son of Harold Maldon and Mamie Lee Taylor Dellinger. He was a member of Stamey Town Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School. He was a magistrate and a Sheriff's Deputy. He was also a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Esther Clark Dellinger of the home; a son, Alton Lee Dellinger of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a daughter, Penny Melissa Barlow of Wilkesboro; a brother, Ross Dellinger of Newland; a sister, Ramona Brewer of Altamont; and one grandson. Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Thursday at Stamey Town Baptist Church. Revs. David Johnson and Wade Boone officiated. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour Thursday at the church. Burial was at 11:45 a.m. Friday in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Pat Ray Post of the VFW.
