GREENVILLE, SC – John “Jack” Dumont Dennis Jr., 86, formerly of Bakersville, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at his home. He was the son of the late John D. and Lenora Walker Dennis. He was also preceded in death by a son, William Alfred Dennis. A member of First Baptist Church of Greenville, he was a Sunday School teacher and teacher at Viola Street Mission. He was a graduate of Berea College and Harvard Business School, and former principal of Cecil’s Business College in Asheville. He established Cecil’s Institute of Accounting in Greenville for veterans of WWII and later founded Consolidated Tires, Inc., also in Greenville. He also taught at Bowman High School. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Whatley Dennis of the home; a son, John D. Dennis III; two daughters, Nancy Whitaker and Vicki Cassidy; and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Greenville, with private burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
