MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Helen Karter Diel, 5 Aug 2004

SPRUCE PINE - Helen Karter Diel, 81, of Hickory Hill Drive, died 
Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004 at Brian Center Healthcare in Spruce Pine. 
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and the Grassy Creek 
Women's Golf Association.

Survivors include a daughter, Marguerite Schmink of Spruce Pine; 
sons, Daniel Diel of West Palm Beach, FL, and Peter Diel of Miami, 
FL; sisters, Irene Davis and Marjorie Karter; and two grandchildren. 
A memorial service was held at 5 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Episcopal 
Church. Father Thomas Morris officiated. Memorial donations may be 
made to Hospice of Mitchell County, P.O. Box 38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777. 
Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Spruce Pine assisted with arrangements.
