MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Vernon Odell Edwards, 6 Nov 2004

BAKERSVILLE - Vernon Odell Edwards, 77, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 
2004 at his home. A native of Washington County, TN, he was the son 
of the late Robert and Rosa Hicks Edwards. He was also prececed in 
death by a brother, Lynn Edwards. He was the retired owner of 
Fieldstone Corp. and a retired rock mason. He was a member of 
Pleasant View Church of the Brethren and attended Erwin Church of 
the Brethren.

Survivors include Norma Cook Edwards of Bakersville; one brother, 
Walter S. Edwards of Jonesboro,TN; two sisters, Flora Jane Hall of 
Huntsville, AL, and Doris Hurley of Kingsport, TN; and a stepson, 
Roger Cook. 
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Henline-Hughes 
Funeral Home in Bakesville. Revs. Mark Huffine and Jimmy Griffith 
officiated. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Melton 
Cemetery on Hughes Gap Road. The family received friends from 6 p.m. 
until the service hour at the funeral home.
