HARRY LEE ELLIS

BAKERSVILLE - Harry Lee Ellis, 83, of the Ledger community, 
died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003 at his home. He was the son of 
the late Jeff and Effie Duncan Ellis, and husband of the late 
Ruby Hughes Ellis. He was also preceded in death by a sister, 
Helen Young. A member of Bear Creek Baptist Church, he was a 
retired machinist. He was also a lifelong photographer, 
naturalist and author with work featured in National Geographic, 
Wildlife in North Carolina, and the National Audubon.
Survivors include a son, Michael Ellis of Spruce Pine; grandson, 
Jeffrey Ellis of Fleetwood; granddaughter, Jennifer Robinson 
of Nebo; one great granddaughter; and one nephew.
Funeral services were held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Bear Creek 
Baptist Church. Revs. Chris Rathbone and Steve Williams 
officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. The family received 
friends from 6:30 p.m. until the service hour at the church. 
Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine was in charge of arrangements.
