He was the son of Jess and Mary Beam English. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Belle Turner, and brothers, Clarence, Claude, Cecil, Wade and Jack English. A member and deacon at Odoms Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, he was employed by T&M Construction. Survivors include his wife, Lillie Hill English of the home; daughters, Misty Burleson and Vickie Thomas, both of Bakersville; sons, Eddie and Ricky English both of Bakersville, and Rev. Randy English of Roan Mountain, TN; sisters, Ellen Sechrest of Salisbury and Georgia Godbey of Coolleemee; and brothers, Fred English of Roan Mountain, TN, and Stewart English of Shawsville, VA. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Odoms Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Revs. Ronnie Gouge and Doug Wagner officiated. Burial followed in Garland Cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday at the church. Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville was in charge of arrangements.
