CLAUDE FORTNER 


SPRUCE PINE - Claude Fortner, 82, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006 at the Brian 
Center of Spruce Pine. He was the son of the late Claude and Ruth Sparks 
Fortner, and husband of the late Mary Harelson Fortner. He was also preceded 
in death by a brother, Bruce Blevins. He was a retired truck driver for McLean 
Trucking Company and Teamster with Local #391. He was also a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Dimple Gouge Fortner of the home; three daughters, 
Jean Wilson, Juanita Disher of Winston-Salem, and Patricia Parish of 
Kingsport, Tenn.; a son, Rev. Donald S. Fortner of Danville, Ky.; two sisters, 
Barbara Huskins and Jean Johnson, both of Spruce Pine; eight grandchildren; 
and 12 great-grandchildren. 

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Pine Branch Baptist Church 
Cemetery. Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine assisted the family.
