RALPH A. FRYE 

SPRUCE PINE - Ralph A. Frye, 85, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006 at his home. He 
was the son of the late Edward and Virlie Frye, and husband of the late Ruby 
Putman Frye. He was also preceded in death by a son, Arthur "Sonny" Ralph 
Frye. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and received the Victory Medal. He 
was retired from Hampshire Hosiery, where he was chief electrician. He was a 
member of First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Buchanan of Shelby, Phillis Glenn of 
Spruce Pine, and Linda Parrish of Davidson; six grandchildren; seven great-
grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel 
of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Rev. Greg Hollifield officiated. Burial 
followed in Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends from 1 
p.m. until the service hour Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may 
be made to Shriners Children's Hospital or Hospice of Mitchell County, P.O. 
Box 38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
