JAY FRYE

BAKERSVILLE - Jay Frye, 78, of the Bear Creek community, died Friday, 
Jan. 31, 2003 in Spruce Pine Community Hospital. He was the son of the 
late Rev. Renzo and Arizona Forbes Frye. He was also preceded in death 
by his first wife, the late Lula Greene Frye; a son, Roger Jay Frye; 
brothers, Robert, Frank and Clyde Frye; and a sister, Jeanette King. He 
was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Belle Buchanan Frye; a daughter, Shelby 
McClure of Marion; sons, Bill and Doug Frye, both of Bakersville; a stepson, 
Wayne Ward of Spruce Pine; sisters, Inez nanney andLena Davis, both of 
Marion; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bear Creek Baptist Church. 
Revs. Max Holland, Chris Rathbone, Danny Silvers and Ken Jenkins officiated. 
Burial was in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. 
Saturday at Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Memorial donations may be made 
to Hospice of Mitchell County, P.O. Box 38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
