FRANK K. GARLAND 

BAKERSVILLE - Frank K. Garland, 84, of Beans Creek Road passed away at his 
home Wednesday, July 26, 2006 after a brief illness. He was the son of the 
late Robert and Rettie Byrd Garland. He was preceded in death by three 
sisters: Pearl Hart, Dovie Musick, Nevada Gardner, brothers, Ray, Jim, Jake 
and Earl Garland, and one great, great -granddaughter. He was a native of 
Mitchell County and owner and operator of Frank Garland Logging.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bertha Gardner, one daughter, Shirley 
Garland, two grandsons, and one daughter, Judy Gardner, of Unicoi, Tenn., 
three great granddaughters, and four great grandsons, and several nieces and 
nephews. 

Funeral services were held Friday, July 28 at 8 p.m. in Beans Creek Church of 
Jesus Christ, with Larry Garland, G.B. Garland, David Byrd, and Stokes Cook 
officiating. The family received friends two hours prior to the service. 
Interment was Saturday, July 29 at 11 am at Beans Creek Cemetery.
