CHRISTINE TOWNSEND GREENE 

SPRUCE PINE - Christine Townsend Greene, 78, of Jakes Branch Road., died 
Monday, Dec. 4, 2006 at a local nursing home. She was the daughter of the late 
Oscar and Molllie Phillips Townsend, and wife of the late Joe Royce Greene. 
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Letterman; and a 
brother, Jack Townsend.

Survivors include two daughters, Maudie Nanny of Spruce Pine, and Myril Wilson 
of Burnsville; two sons, Michael Greene of Linville, and Mark Greene of Spruce 
Pine; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-
grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes 
Funeral Home in Bakersville. Rev. Reed Bagby officiated. Burial was at 1 p.m. 
Friday in Berry Chapel Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 
the service hour at the funeral home.
