PHYLLIS DUNCAN GRINDSTAFF 

BAKERSVILLE - Phyllis (Tatas)) Duncan Grindstaff, 70, of Jarrett Road, died 
Thursday, April 13, 2006 in Spruce Pine Community Hospital. She was the 
daughter of the late Jerry and Elma Sparks Duncan. She was also preceded in 
death by five brothers, Bill, Jack, Ted, Jim, and Donald Duncan. She was a 
former employee of Henredon Furniture Company.

Survivors include her husband, Jack T. Grindstaff of the home; two sons, 
Michael Grindstaff of Marion, and David Grindstaff of Spruce Pine; four 
sisters, Eloise Hall of Newton, Anna Lee Pittman and Judy Buchanan, both of 
Spruce Pine, and Ruth Grindstaff of Bakersville; one brother, Jerry Duncan of 
Spruce Pine; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Bear Creek Baptist Church. 
Revs. Chris Rathbone, Harold Grindstaff and Steve Williams officiated. 
Graveside services were conducted by Rev. Max Holland. The family received 
friends from 2 p.m. until the service hour at the church. Memorial donations 
may be made to Bear Creek Baptist Church, c/o Linda Duncan, 187 School Road, 
Bakersville, NC 28705; or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 102454, 
Atlanta, GA 30368-2454. Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville was in 
charge of arrangements.
