BONNIE L. GRINDSTAFF 
 
BAKERSVILLE - Bonnie L. Grindstaff died Friday, May 18, 2007 in Brian Center 
Healthcare in Spruce Pine. She was the daughter of the late Jim and Mary 
Pittman Buchanan. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Gladys, 
Hattie and Alice Buchanan, and Carrie Woody; and two brothers, Jay and Earl 
Buchanan. She was a member of Snow Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Milt Adam Grindstaff of the home; one daughter, 
Kathleen Byrd of Bakersville; two sons, Douglas McArthur Grindstaff of 
Brevard, and Harold J. Grindstaff of Bakersville; sisters, Dessie Callahan of 
Big Stone Gap,Va., and Lila Ward of Bakersville; four grandchildren; two step-
grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday at Snow Hill Baptist Church. The 
Revs. Gerald Grindstaff and Harold Grindstaff officiated. Burial followed in 
the church cemetery. The family received friends from 2 p.m. until the service 
hour Monday at the church. Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville assisted 
the family.
