HOYLE GUNTER 
SPRUCE PINE - Hoyle Gunter, 79, of Hilltop Lane, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005 
at his home. He was the son of the late Lonnie Herbert and Grace Lee Burleson 
Gunter. A member of First Baptist Church, he had worked as a funeral director 
for 42 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Calloway Gunter of the home; a daughter, Wanda 
Gouge of Mooresville; sons, Dean Gunter of Greensboro, and Joey Gunter of 
Lincolnton; a brother, Doyle Gunter of Spruce Pine; four grandchildren; and 
four great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Spruce 
Pine. Revs. David Vess, Steve Gouge and Ken Lance officiated. Burial was in 
Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until 
the service hour Saturday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to 
Hospice of Mitchell County, P.O. Box 38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777. Webb Funeral 
Home in Spruce Pine was in charge of arrangements.
