FRANCIS (TOTIE) GARLAND

BAKERSVILLE - Francis (Totie) Garland, 82, of Claude Garland Road, 
died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 at her home. She was the son of the late 
William Alfred and Birtie Yelton Taylor. She was also preceded in 
death by a son, Floyd Dale Garland. A homemaker, she was a member of 
The Church of Jesus Christ at Beans Creek.
Survivors incude her husband, Claude Garland of the home; daughters, 
Barbara Street and Marilyn Hughes, both of Buladean; sons, Max Dean 
Garland and Jack Lee Garland, both of Valdese, and Dudley Carmen 
Garland, Charles Kenneth Garland, and Mark Linden Garland, all of 
Bakersville; 18 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and three 
great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at The Church of Jesus 
Christ. Revs. G.B. Garland, Stokes Cooke and Pete Poore officiated. 
Burial followed in Edwards Cemetery. The family received friends 
from 6-8 p.m. in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in 
Bakersville.
