MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Hugh Bradley Garland, 25 Dec 2003

BAKERSVILLE - Hugh Bradley Garland, 69, of Slagle Road, died 
Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003 at Spruce Pine Community Hospital. He 
was the son of the late Ross and Bertha Hardin Garland, and 
husband of the late Pauline Hollifield Garland. He was also 
preceded in death by brothers, Claude, Carl and Paul Garland. 
He was a member of Snow Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Eloise Miller Grindstaff Garland of 
the home; two stepsons, Marty and Steve Grindstaff both of 
Bakersville; two stepdaughters, Rheta Faye Burleson of Bakersville, 
and Freida Kay Yelton of Spruce Pine; sisters, Jean Thomas of 
Morganton, Joann McGee of Hickory, Kathleen Pritchard of Spruce 
Pine, and Helen Garland and Peggy Forges, both of Bakersville; and 
two stepgrandchildren. 
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of 
Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville. Revs. Keith Miller and 
Gerald Grindstaff officiated. Burial was at 11 a.m. Monday in 
Johnson Memorial Cemetery on Duck Branch Road. The family received 
friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
