MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Nellie Young Grindstaff, 27 Nov 2004

BAKERSVILLE - Nellie Young Grindstaff, 85, of the Mine Creek community, 
died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004 in Catawba Memorial Hospital. She was the 
daughter of the late Jim and Maude Young, and wife of the late Lee 
Grindstaff. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lula Belle 
Pitman. She was a homemaker and a member of Mine Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, James Grindstaff of Newton; a sister, Elsie 
Sparks of Bakersville; two grandchilden; three great grandchildren; one 
great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Monday in the Grindstaff Memorial 
Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Rev. Gerald Grindstaff 
officiated. Burial was at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Lily Branch Cemetery. The 
family received friends from 7 p.m. until the service hour at the 
funeral home.
