FRED HARRISON 

SPRUCE PINE - Fred Harrison, 77, of the Lower Hanging Rock community, died 
Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006 at his home. He was the son of the late Cornelious 
Osborne and Ora Lee Turbyfill Harrison. He was also preceded in death by 
brothers, Ernest, Charles, Donald and Billy Harrison; and a sister, Ruth 
Sharkey. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Feldspar Corporation. He 
was a deacon and Sunday School superintendent at Beaver Creek Baptist Church, 
where he was a member.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Miller Harrison of the home; daughters, 
Deborah Suzanne Willis of Bakersville, Barbara Jean Coalson of Winston-Salem, 
and Sondra Lee Stewart of Spruce Pine; a son, Fred Harrison II of Johnson City, 
TN; sisters, Lois Pendley of Spruce Pine, Jessie Sneed of Marion, Jennie 
Stairett of Greenville, SC, and Pearl Amick of Greensboro; eight grandchildren; 
and six great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Beaver Creek Baptist Church. 
Revs. Brandon Pitman, Ken Mashburn and David Wilcox officiated. Burial was in 
Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until 
the service hour Tuesday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to 
Hospice of Mitchell County, P.O. Box 38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777; or Jesus Video 
Project, c/o Jerri Henley, 1860 Jacksontown Road, Spruce Pine, NC 28777. Webb 
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
