Leona Hazelwood 
Leona Hazelwood, 75, 168 Hazelwood Hollow, Hampton, died Thursday, October 20, 
2005, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital after a brief illness. 
Mrs. Hazelwood was a native of Mitchell County, N.C., and the daughter of the 
late Harrison and Nettie Garland Hughes. In addition to her parents, she was 
preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Cook. 
Mrs. Hazelwood was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. 
Survivors include her husband, Carl Lester Hazelwood; two daughters and sons-in-
law, Anita and Kenneth Worley, Unicoi, and Debbie and Richard Bowling, Mitchell 
County, N.C.; two step-sons and a daughter-in-law, Kail and Carolyn Hazelwood, 
Knoxville, and Carl Lee Hazelwood, Hampton; three sisters, Thelma Arnold and 
Ann Babb, Johnson City, and Phyllis Sardi, Fort Myers, Fla.; and a brother, 
W.H. Hughes, Johnson City. Eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren 
also survive. 
Funeral services for Mrs. Hazelwood will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 
23, 2005, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Haskel Ingram officiating. 
Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, in 
the National Cemetery, Mountain Home. Active pallbearers, who are requested to 
assemble at the funeral chapel at 10:15 a.m. Monday, will be Vance Rountree, 
Dennis Rountree, Gator Bowling, Chris Hazelwood, Kenneth Worley and Richard 
Bowling. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Lee Hazelwood, Kale Hazelwood, 
Kenneth Bristol, Ike Fortner, Bob Phillips and James Smith. The family will 
receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, prior to the 
service hour. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral chapel at 10:15 
a.m. Monday to go to the cemetery. The family will receive friends following 
the graveside service at the home of Anita Worley, 110 Conway McCurry Road, 
Unicoi, (423) 743-5190. Condolences to the Hazelwood family may be e-mailed to
