F. ARMON HOLLIFIELD 
 
SPRUCE PINE - F. Armon Hollifield, 74, of Rockhouse Creek Road, died Saturday, 
March 29, 2008 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine. He was the son 
of the late Willard Sr. and Kitty McKinney Hollifield, and husband of the late 
Opal Willis Hollifield. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Alvin, 
Everett and Willard Hollifield, Jr.; and one sister, Glenda Hollifield. He was 
a retired Staff Sergeant from the US Army. He was a member of First Freewill 
Baptist Church of Spruce Pine.

Survivors include stepsons, Mike Willis and Joe Willis, both of Spruce Pine; 
three sisters, Laura Jane Byrd, Marlene Brown and Virginia Buchanan, all of 
Spruce Pine; two brothers, Jack and Charles Hollifield, both of Spruce Pine; 
two grandsons; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes 
Funeral Home in Bakersville. The Revs. Greg Hollifield and Jacob Willis 
officiated. Burial followed in First Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery on 
Tempie Mountain Road. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until the 
service hour Tuesday at the funeral home.
