RUTH HOPE HOLLIFIELD 

SPRUCE PINE - Ruth Hope Hollifield, 82 of Valley Road died Thursday, July 27, 
2006 in the Brian Center after an extended illness. A native of Mitchell 
County, she was the daughter of the late Hillard A. and Mayme Ledford Jones 
and the wife of the late Yates E. Hollifield.

Hollifield is survived by her son Buddy Hollifield of Burnsville: daughters 
Shirley Sparks of Morganton, and Kay Oke of Spruce Pine: brother Charles R. 
Jones, Sr. of Spruce Pine; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2006 at the First 
Baptist Church in Spruce Pine. The Revs. David Vess, Sam Dale and Larry Greene 
officiated. Burial was in the Phillips Cemetery. The family received friends 
Sunday afternoon from 2 p.m. until the service hour at the church. In lieu of 
flowers, memorial donations could be made to: Hospice of Mitchell County or 
the First Baptist Church.
