ZETTIE BARNETT HONEYCUTT 
 
BAKERSVILLE - Zettie Barnett Honeycutt, 87, of the Poplar community, died 
Monday, June 4, 2007 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Dove and 
Mary Etta Honeycutt Barnett, and wife of the late Lem Honeycutt. She was also 
preceded in death by two brothers, Marshall and Harley Barnett. She was a 
homemaker, who loved to quilt.

Survivors include her daughter, Lavonia Bennett of Poplar; a son, Gary 
Honeycutt of Poplar; sister, Versie Bennett of Pigeon Roost; brother, Grady 
Barnett of Burnsville; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-
great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Yancey Funeral 
Service. Hospice Chaplain Larry Green and Rev. Frank Hurbert officiated. A 
graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Bennett Cemetery in Pigeon 
Roost. The family received friends from 7 p.m. until the service hour 
Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of 
Mitchell County, P.O. Box 38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
