SUSAN YOUNG HUDSON 

CONNELLY SPRINGS - Susan Young "Sudie" Hudson, 89, a native of Mitchell County, 
died Wednesday Jan. 4, 2006 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter 
of the late John S. and Betty Greene Young, and wife of the late Joseph Edmond 
Hudson. She was an active member of the former Connelly Springs Methodist 
Church and following its closing attended the Abernethy Memorial United 
Methodist Church of Rutherford College. She was a volunteer with the American 
Red Cross and the East Burke Christian Ministries.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Hudson of Boone, and Ronnie Hudson of 
Connelly Springs; one brother, John Young of Hickory; two sisters, Lucy Willis 
of Burlington and Carolyn Snyder of Spruce Pine; six grandchildren;three great 
grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Abernethy Memorial United 
Methodist Church. Rev. David Hamlyn officiated. Graveside services were held 
with Dr. Wayne Brown assisting at Mt. View Cemetery. The family received 
friends from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorial donations may be 
made to Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O.Box 127, Rutherford 
College, NC 28671.
