NORMA H. HUGHES 

BAKERSVILLE - Norma H. Hughes, 93, of Wilds Creek Road, died Thursday, Oct. 
19, 2006 in Johnson City Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Reed 
and Mary Garland Hughes, and wife of the late Geter Hughes. She was also 
preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte Hughes; a son, Leon Hughes; a 
brother, George Hughes; and sisters, Mae Phillips, Bessie Street and Delia 
Odom.

Survivors include a daughter, Christine Odom of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; sons, 
Robert, R.H. and Paul Hughes, all of Bakersville, and Willard Hughes of 
Johnson City, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; nine great 
great grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes 
Funeral Home in Bakersville. The Rev. Marvin Hensley officiated. Burial was at 
11 a.m. on Saturday at Ham Hughes Cemetery on Odoms Chapel Church Road. The 
family received friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour Friday at the 
funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Mitchell County, 
P.O. Box 38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
