LENIS BENNETT HUGHES 

BAKERSVILLE - Lennis Bennett Hughes, 101, of the Buladean community, died 
Wednesday, April 15, 2007 at Western North Carolina Baptist Home. She was the 
daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Wise Bennett, and wife of the late 
Frank Hughes. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening. She was a member of 
Buladean Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Judy Ayers of Dobson, Agnes Elizabeth 
Hughes of Asheville, and Thelma Cumbie of Roswell, Ga. and Buladean; four 
grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes 
Funeral Home in Bakesville. Maggie Lauterer officiated. Burial followed in 
Bennett Cemetery on Broad Branch Road. The family received friend from 1 p.m. 
until the service hour Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be 
made to the Hospice of your choice.
