RAY HALL
SPRUCE PINE – Ray Hall, 84, of Stokes Calloway Lane, died June 17, 2002 at 
his home. He was the son of the late Fritz and Grace Ollis Hall. He was 
preceded in death by his first wife, Florence G. Hall, and a sister, Irene 
Ellis. A member of Lily Branch Baptist Church, he was a retired heavy 
equipment operator in the coal mining industry and a member of the United 
Mine Workers of America.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen M. Hall of Spruce Pine; daughters, 
Marie Buchanan of Knoxville, and Evelyn Cook and Kay Oglesby, both of 
Spruce Pine; step daughters, Carolyn Wise of Newland and Marilyn Sparks of 
Bakersville; step sons, Rick Morris of Elk Park, and Charles Morris of 
Bakersville; sister, Betty Broadway of Spruce Pine; brother, Robert Hall 
of Charlotte; seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and six step 
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Grindstaff Memorial 
Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Revs. Gary Baker and Donald 
Davis officiated. Entombment was in the Spruce Pine Mausoleum, at 11 a.m. 
Wednesday. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour 
Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of 
Mitchell County, P.O. Box 38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
