MELDA BIDDIX HAWLEY

HICKORY - Melda B. Hawley, 79, formerly of Spruce Pine, died 
Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003 at Frye Regional Medial Center. She 
was the daughter of the late Willard H. and Rissie Eller Hensley 
Biddix, and wife of the late Perry Edward Hawley. She was also 
preceded in death by two brothers, Willard Biddix Jr. and William 
S. Biddix; and one sister, Mila Mable Biddix.
Survivors include sons, Patrick and Bud Hawley, both of Hickory, 
and Willard R. Hawley of Lenoir; a daughter, Judy Sylvester of 
Robbinsville; brothers, Carl and Charlie Mack Biddix, both of 
Hickory, and Gene Biddix of Washington, NC; sisters, Kate Beaver 
of Hickory and Phoebe Tipton of Marion; seven grandchildren; 11 
great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and three step 
great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Friday at Catawba Funerals 
and Cremations. A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday 
at Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery. Revs. Tim Biddix and Brian 
Smith officiated. The family received friends from 7-8 p.m. 
Friday at the funeral home.
