MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Dorman B. Hefner, 6 Feb 2004

SPRUCE PINE - Dorman B. Hefner, 70, of the Altapass community, 
died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004 at the VA Medical Center in Oteen. He 
was the son of the late Floyd and Lora Jane McKinney Hefner. He 
was also preceded in death by brothers, Carmen, Walter, Fred, 
Leonard and Tommy Hefner; and sisters, Louise McKinney, Flossie 
McKinney and Betty Frizzell. He was a member of the Spruce Pine 
Masonic Lodge 554 AF & AM and a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was 
retired from Miller Engineering Company.

Survivors include a brother, Ernest Hefner of Black Mountain; sisters, 
Trula Whitson and Peggy McKinney, both of Spruce Pine; and several 
nieces, nephews and cousins. 
Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Webb 
Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Revs. Cephus Renfro and Mike Boone 
officiated. Burial was in McKinney Gap Cemetery. The family received 
friends from 5 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
