She was the daughter of the late Marvin and Susan Buchanan Dellinger, and wife of the late John Hollifield. She was also preceded in death by a son, John Hollifield, Jr.; a sister, Edith Edwards; and a brother, James Dellinger. A retired inspector for Bethlehem Steel Company, she was a member of Cane Creek Homemakers Club and Cane Creek Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School. Survivors include a daughter, Mildred Parker; sons, Joseph Hollifield of Baltimore, MD, Bradley Ledford of Valdese; sisters, Rachel Lyons of Spruce Pine, and Ruth Lamkin of Princeton, NJ; brothers, Wayne Dellinger of Orlando, FL, and Jack Dellinger of Bakersville and Pensacola, FL; 11 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 12 noon at Cane Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Mark McKinney officiated. Burial followed in Cane Creek Cemetery. The family received friends in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville from 7-9 p.m. Thursday.
