MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Clyde Hopson, 26 Sep 2002 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- CLYDE HOPSON BAKERSVILLE - Clyde Hopson, 80, of Pigeon Roost Road, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002 at his home. He was the son of the late Ervin and Edlia Bailey Hopson, and husband of the late Geraldine Jones Hopson. He was a park ranger for 30 years and retired from North Carolina Parks at Mt. Mitchell. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he received three Purple Hearts and four Bronze Stars. He is a former member of Bald Creek Masonic Lodge. Survivors include one daughter, Belinda Hopson Autrey of Green Mountain; three sisters, Laura Barnett of Johnson City, TN, Esther Briggs of Chatham, PA, and Mae Jones of Coatesville, PA; one brother, Jim Hopson of Acworth, GA; and one granddaughter. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Henline- Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville. Revs. Jerry Barnett, Paul Bennett and Norman Loveless. Burial followed in Jones Cemetery in Erwin, TN. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Mitchell County, P.O.
