JOYCE O'SHIELDS HUSKINS 

SPRUCE PINE – Joyce O'Shields Huskins, 44, of Ridge Road, died Monday, March 
12, 2001. She was the daughter of the late Warren Robert and Ruth Freeman 
Franklin. She was a homemaker. 

Survivors include her husband, Joe Huskins of the home; a daughter, Kimberly 
Burleson of Spruce Pine; a son, Derrick O'Shields of Bakersville; two 
brothers, Johnny and Jimmy Franklin, both of Spruce Pine; two sisters, Susan 
Burleson of Newland and Jean Hedrick of Icard; and two grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion Methodist Church in 
Spruce Pine. Revs. Earl Carver, Jr. and Cephua Renfro. Burial followed in the 
church cemetery. The family received friends from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the 
church. Austin & Barnes Funeral Home of Boone was in charge of arrangements.
