DAN JARRETT 

BAKERSVILLE - Dan Jarrett, 89, of the Rebels Creek community, died Friday, 
Feb. 16, 2007 at his home. He was the son of the late F.G. and Rosa Thomas 
Jarrett. He was the oldest member of Rebels Creek Baptist Church, sang with 
the Rebels Creek Quartet, served as a deacon for more than 50 years, and had 
received the Deacon Emeritus Award. He was a lifelong farmer and had lived on 
the same farm all his life.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Boone Jarrett, of the home; a son, Pete 
Jarrett of Bakersville; daughters, Rita Stamey of Forest City, Peggy Teague of 
Clemmons, and Janie Hill of Burnsville; four grandchildren, seven great-
grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Rebels Creek Baptist Church. 
The Revs. Royce Ball, Roger Laws and G.E. Freeman officiated. Burial was in 
the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at 
Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of 
Mitchell County, P.O. Box 38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
