BAXTER DAVIS JOHNSON 

SPRUCE PINE - Baxter Davis Johnson, 96, of Amethyst Street, died Sunday, Aug. 
28, 2005. He was the only child of the late Theo and Bertie Pendley Johnson, 
and husband of the late Juanita Auxier Johnson. He was the owner of Johnson 
Electric and Supply Company, with branches in Marion, Valdese and Newland. From 
1962 to 1981, he was also the owner of Oak Lanes Bowling in Spruce Pine. He had 
also served on the Board of Mitchell Savings and Loan.

He is survived by his only daughter, Jean Gayle Johnson. 
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Spruce Pine United Methodist 
Church. Burial followed in Phillips Cemetery. The family received friends from 
6-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Spruce 
Pine United Methodist Church, 11090 Hwy. 226 South, Spruce Pine, NC 28777; or 
to Mitchell County Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 308, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
