GLADYS M. JONES 

BAKERSVILLE - Gladys M. Jones, 81, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006 at her home. She 
was the daughter of the late George D. and Bessie McKinney Rathbone, and wife 
of the late Prince Jones. She was also preceded in death by a half-sister, 
Cleo Wilson. She was a member of Fork Mountain Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Paul Allen Jones of Bakersville; a daughter, 
Christine Malone of Micaville; sisters, Trula Gardner of Bakersville, Georgia 
Buchanan and June Frye, both of Spruce Pine; Rosalee Ledford of Fairview, and 
Brenda Freeman of Marion; brothers, Ortie Rathbone of Bakersville, Wilkie 
Rathbone of Morganton, and Emory Rathbone of Asheville; and several nieces and 
nephews. 

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes 
Funeral Home in Bakersville. Revs. Ronnie Gouge and Larry Greene officiated. 
Burial followed in McKinney Cemetery. The family received friends from 2 p.m. 
until the service hour Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be 
made to Hospice of Mitchell County, P.O. Box 38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
