She was the daughter of the late Jesse James and Minnie Callahan Bailey, and wife of the late John Harris Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Bobby and Alvin Johnson; sisters, Martha Beaver and Dora Pierce; and a brother, Joe Bailey. A member of Toecane Baptist Church, she was an inspector with Robbins Knitting Mill. Survivors include a daughter, Iva Lee Laws of Bakersville; a sister, Viola Haney of Johnson City, TN; four brothers, Don, Albert, Jim and Emory Bailey, all of Johnson City; two grandchildren; one great grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville. Revs. Jack Callahan and Lee Ayers officiated. Burial was at 11 a.m. Thursday in Bailey Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
