ELLA HUGHES LEWIS 

GREEN MOUNTAIN - Ella Hughes Lewis, 84, of Brummitts Creek Road, died Friday, 
Nov. 2, 2007 at Brookside Rehabilitation and Care in Burnsville. A native of 
Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Holden and Mollie Peterson 
Hughes, and wife of the late James Wesley Lewis. She was also preceded in 
death by sisters, Lela McNeese and Ruth Jones, and five brothers, Cisiroe, 
Earl, Starlin, Virgil, and Garfa Hughes. She was a member of Huntdale Union 
Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Matilda Jane McPeters of Green Mountain; one 
son, Don Lewis of Lewisville; two brothers, Walter Hughes of Green Mountain, 
and Bill Hughes of Kingston, Tenn.; and one grandchild. 

Funeral Services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, at Huntdale Union Church. Blaine 
Whitson officiated. Burial was in Flat Branch Cemetery. The family received 
friends from 10 a.m. until the service hour Sunday at the church. Henline-
Hughes Funeral Home assisted the family.
