GLADYS LOWERY 

SPRUCE PINE - Gladys Beatrice Lowery, 81, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008 at 
Sunrise Rehab and Care Center in Marion. A native of Bryson City, she was the 
daughter of the late Thomas and Betty Woodard Brendle, and wife of the late 
Thurman "Bud" Lowery. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene 
Lowery; a great-granddaughter, Destiny Styles; a sister, Hila Ann Cockran; two 
brothers, Walter and Hardy Brendle; two half-sisters, Velma and Maggie; and 
two-half brothers, George and Fred Brendle.

Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Styles of Spruce Pine; two sons, John and 
J.D. Lowery, both of Marion; a sister, Lula Belle Merritt of Whiteville; two 
brothers, Porter Brendle of Osemee, Fla., and Zeb Brendle of Bryson City; four 
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. 

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Biddix Cemetery. The Rev. 
Harold Dellinger officiated. Burial followed the service. Webb Funeral Home in 
Spruce Pine assisted the family.
