MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Ida Burleson Lassiter, 11 May 2004

SPRUCE PINE - Ida Burleson Lassiter, 71, of the Altapass community, 
died Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at her home. She was the daughter of the 
late Robert and Margie Calloway Burleson, and wife of the late Bascom 
Lassiter. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Cora Ward and 
Betty Benfield. She attended Freedom Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, David Burleson of Bakersville; sisters, Lorene 
Burleson of Spruce Pine, and Edna Benfield and Adelaide Justice, both 
of Newland; brothers, Ernest Burleson of Newland, Audie Burleson of 
Lexington, and Carl Burleson of Spruce Pine; three grandchildren; two 
step grandchildren; two great grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Grindstaff 
Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. Rev. Ron Owensby officiated. 
Burial was at 10 a.m. Friday in Yellow Mountain Cemetery. The family 
received friends from 6:30 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral 
home.
