FRED H. LAWRENCE

SPRUCE PINE - Fred H. Lawrence, 78, of Spruce Avenue, died Tuesday, 
Feb. 18, 2003 in Spruce Pine Community Hospital. A native of Evergreen, 
AL, he was the son of the late Glenn and Virginia Queen Lawrence. He 
was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack Lawrence. He was a U.S. 
Navy veteran of WWII, and the owner/operator of Spruce Pine Cleaners 
for over 40 years.
Survivors include two sisters, Helen Shehan of Evergreen, AL, and Lucy 
Ogletree of Ft. Payne, AL; one brother, Frank Lawrence of Spruce Pine; 
and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Spruce Pine United 
Methodist Church. Revs. Todd Struble and Larry Greene officiated. Webb 
Funeral Home in Spruce Pine was in charge of arrangements.
