ESSIE LEDFORD 

BAKERSVILLE - Essie Ledford, 82, of Possum Trot Road, died Saturday, 
June 5, 2004 at Spruce Pine Community Hospital. She was the daughter 
of the late Ervin and Mary Buchanan Reid, and wife of the late Green 
B. Ledford. She was also preceded in death by a son, Cecil Ledford; 
daughters, Shelby Jean and Willa Mae; brothers, George Reid and Jay 
Reid; and a sister, Lola Benfield. A member of Bear Creek Baptist 
Church, she was retired from Ellen Knitting Mill.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Silver of Spruce Pine; a brother, 
Ervin Reid Jr. of Marion; two grandsons; and one great grandson. 
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Henline-
Hughes Funeral Home. Revs. Chris Rathbone and Max Holland officiated. 
Burial was in Cane Creek Cemetery #1. The family received friends from 
1 p.m. until the service hour.
