MAE LAURA MACE 

MARION - Mae Laura Mace, 79, died Friday, June 15, 2007 at her home. Born in 
Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Harlen David and Ova 
Carpenter Mace, and wife of the late Jimmy McCracken.

Survivors include her husband, Willie Riddle of the home; four daughters, 
Elizabeth Penley, Brenda Buff, Kathy Grigsby and Julie Riddle, all of Marion; 
three sons, David McCracken of Asheboro, and Mark McCracken and Jeffrey 
Riddle, both of Marion; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Westmoreland 
Funeral Home. The Revs. Matt McDaniels and Toney Sherlin officiated. Burial 
was in Murphy's Chapel. The family received friends from 10 a.m. until the 
service hour Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to The 
American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Asheville, NC 28801; or Hospice 
of McDowell County, 575 Airport Road, Marion, NC 28752.
