DOLLIE BYRD McHONE 

OLD FORT - Dollie Byrd McHone, 91, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006 at her home. A 
native of Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Mallie and Lessie 
Thomas Byrd, and wife of the late Walter Lee McHone. She was also preceded in 
death by a daughter, Mary Ellen McHone. She was a homemaker and member of First 
Baptist Church of Spruce Pine.

Survivors include two sons, Billy McHone of Old Fort, and Jack McHone of 
Marion; a daughter, Barbara Jones of Old Fort; one brother, J.W. Garland of 
Connecticut; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and three great great 
grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Westmoreland 
Funeral Home and Crematory. Revs. Jerry McClain and Chuck Tripp officiated. 
Burial was in McHone Cemetery in Spruce Pine. The family received friends from 
10 a.m. until the service hour Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations 
may be made to Hospice of McDowell County, 218 Logan Street, Marion, NC 28752.
